Farewell Old State.

And so it happened. The inevitable G-Word, the day I swore would never come.

Alas I leave behind the wonderful world of LNC's, $2.00 teas and Go Go Gadget Wednesdays ::sighs::

Though I failed to get emotional during the blur that was senior week, the realization of the end came on strong as "Party in the USA" blasted throughout the bar on our last night. Never has a song carried such a strong sense of nostalgia. Like many collegiate coeds, my friends and I would ritually watch the "Party in the FIP" video every night before we went out. There was something about those grown men in short shorts that really seemed to get us pumped up.

(NOTE: For those who are unfamiliar with the phenomena, do yourself a favor and watch it....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ezfk7s1NyY)

As Miley Cyrus' sage words sung their way throughout Pickles, the six of us created a sway circle as we cried and promised to always remain friends. Our parents stood behind us perplexed as to how a song initially created to promote a Walmart clothing line could trigger such an emotional response. Whatever, they'll never get it!

Though I am leaving behind a world I love, a new adventure awaits. This summer I will work as a Program Leader for kids traveling to New Orleans to do Katrina Relief. I am excited to move on and begin life in a new city...mainly because since graduation, I've become somewhat of a paraplegic. (I blame in on the daily Law & Order SVU marathons that USA insists on airing)

So bring it on NOLA!!! I simply cannot wait :)

(This is me and my BFFAEAE's trying to recreate our version of Sex & The City right after I shotgunned "not Miranda"...gingers are always defaulted as Miranda. It's a travesty.)
